COEIR Colloquium 2027 · NIT Calicut
GROUNDED INTELLIGENCE
Pragmatic AI for Engineering, Employability & Enterprise
TWO DAYS·NIT CALICUT CAMPUS·2027·JAN 9-10
“Every outcome from this event has to touch something real – a reactor, a road, a resume, or a revenue line.”
THE COEIR CHARTER
WHY NITC ALUMNI BELONG IN THIS ROOM
Four reasons this is worth a weekend on campus
01 · Reconnect With Purpose
350 attendees expected, and 40-50 of them are your peers
Demos, dinners, and an event built to circulate: alumni here are weighted toward those who build or fund AI systems. It is networking with a reason to show up.
02 · Be The Deciding Voice
Judge the pitches from the panel, not the audience
Alumni investors and CTOs sit on the “What We’d Fund, and Why” fireside, reacting live to real proposal abstracts. Your read on a deal shapes what gets funded.
03 · Put Your Name On An Idea
Become a named mentor, not a name badge
Every funded project gets an alumni mentor on a standing monthly call. Thirty committed mentors is the single binding constraint on this year’s cohort – and that seat could be yours.
04 · Watch Your Endowment Work
See exactly where funds land
Grants are announced on stage on the final day of the colloquium – not in an email three weeks later.
GOALS BY THE NUMBERS
THE AGENDA – TO BE FINALIZED
Two days of keynotes, parallel tracks, a 24-hour student hackathon, alumni firesides, and live pitch sessions. The detailed schedule will be finalized and shared in October.
ALSO OPEN: ANGEL INVESTING IN STUDENT STARTUPS
Separately from the grant and mentor tracks, alumni interested in angel investing can explore direct opportunities in the most promising student ventures – backing future founders as they build responsible, sustainable AI companies.
THIS ONLY WORKS IF ALUMNI SHOW UP TWICE
Once in the room. Once after, as a mentor.
- Confirm your seat – forty to fifty alumni places are reserved, not unlimited.
- Volunteer as a mentor – thirty are needed, and it is one monthly call per project.
- Bring something – a proposal that needs candid feedback, an opening for the placement cell, or a compute credit your employer can spare.
